MARGAO: When Verna resident Bonaventure D’Souza was on his return journey back to to Goa in the wee hours of Tuesday from Hubli in his Scorpio jeep, little did he realise that he would come across a brother-sister duo dumped on the Anmod Ghat to fend for them selves.
It was at around 5.30 in the morning when a small naked girl moving alone along the Anmod ghat caught the attention of Bonaventure while driving down to Goa.
“I was shocked and taken aback when I saw the small girl in nude condition walking along the right side of the road. Suspecting something hanky panky, I Immediately told my driver to stop the vehicle and take a turn. When I spoke to the girl, she briefed me in Hindi stating that she has been thrown out on the road by her boss. The spot was around two kms from Goa border,” he recalled.
Bonaventure carried the young girl in his hands into the vehicle before they all moved to the spot where her 2-3 year old brother was dumped by the accused. They heaved a sigh of relief as they soon spotted the brother along side the road, waving his hands for help.
“When questioned, the young kids, informed that the accused first threw their mother out and then both of them,” he said, while immediately intimating the sad episode to the police by dialling the 100 number.
“The Collem police has recorded my statement. I feel it was my duty as a human being to rescue the small kids,” he said, while saying that he has full faith that the Judiciary would do justice for the victims.
“The accused responsible for this act should not go unpunished,” he said.
