Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant said that e-auctioning of dumps will bring in huge revenue to the State.
He said all the dumps outside the lease area belong to the State as the ore was illegally dumped outside in forest and agricultural land.
“We are expecting fees for also legalising the dump area also. Some have already paid while others are coming,” he stated
Asked whether the State is expecting revenue from e-auction, he said, let us see. “Most of dumps are of low grade, around 45-50 grade. There may be 55 also, which may fetch good price,” he stated.
Goa Mineral Ore Exporters Association secretary Glenn Kalawampara refused to comment until there is any clearity on the issue. “We are told that government will come up with a policy on dumps by July until then we do not want to comment,” Kalawampara told Herald.
Asked whether they are planning to approach the court on the issue if government takes over dumps, he replied, “As I said it would not be right to say something as of now. Our focus right now is to start some kind of business.”
On the how much the State can earn from the ore, he replied, “We need to know the exact quantity and quality of dumps only then I can say something.”
