PANJIM: The Agassaim Police booked two persons for allegedly duping 17 government job aspirants to the tune of Rs 31 lakh.
According to the police, Alton A Silveira, 25, a resident of Malwara, Agasaim, lodged a complaint on February 14, 2024, stating that the accused persons approached him stating that they will provide government jobs in different government departments in Goa.
Upon receiving money from him, the accused convinced the complainant to inform other people. The accused persons identified as Jass Jony D’Costa from Kirbhat, Salcete, and Jwency Richer Dias, a resident of Monzon, Curtorim, received money from other persons as well amounting to Rs 31 lakh.
But they failed to provide them the government jobs, police said, adding the accused were collecting money since January 2022.
The Agasaim Police have registered an FIR under section 420 read with 34 of IPC and the case is being investigated by PSI P Parekh.
