Duo convicted for carrying live explosives

PONDA: North Goa Additional District and Sessions Judge Bela Naik on Wednesday convicted Hubbali natives – 28-year-old Shivappa Ganapat Kale and 21-year-old Dharma Bhagwan Chavan currently residing at Chandrawado-Fatorda, for transporting unlicensed  80 local-made live explosives weighing around 40 gms each in a mini passenger bus.
The judge will pronounce the sentence on January 30. The court acquitted the third accused.
It may be recalled that on December 30, 2009, at 8.45 am, the above persons were arrested for transporting the live explosives in mini bus plying along Paikul-Margao route via Ponda thereby endangering their lives and that of other passengers. 
They were booked under Section 286 of IPC and Section 5 of Explosive Substances Act.
