MAPUSA: Tension prevailed at Siolim after locals learned that two migrant workers killed a cow belonging to the Mandrekar family.
The cow was tied to a coconut tree in an open area, along with her calf, to graze, and was reported missing on March 8. When the owners launched a search, locals confronted the two men from Chattisgarh, Athanas Rafel Lakda, 30, and Manbahal Johan Ekka, 20, and they confessed to having stolen the cow and killed her for her meat. Angry locals handed them over to the Mapusa police.
CCTV footage was examined as part of the investigation and the accused were seen committing the crime.
