MARGAO: The people duped by Kamakshi Forex company Thursday met the South Goa Superintendent of Police, Shekhar Prabhudessai, to get remedy on the duping case.
The people have been directed by the SP to draft proper inclusive complaints and file them at the police station to enable the police to help them out. The number of the duped persons has been increasing since yesterday and the alleged duping is estimated at Rs 40 crore.
A signed written complaint of over 147 persons was given to the Superintendent of Police and he was apprised by the people on the chain of events that unfolded in the duping case.
Meanwhile, the SP has informed the people that it would be necessary for them to file detailed individual complaints to get a clear picture on the actual nature of the case.
“There is a contract which has been signed by the people with the alleged company, there are cheques and pay orders given by the company to the people and these are important threads which need to be probed thoroughly by the police,” the SP said.
The SP has also advised the people to deposit the cheques to get the outcome of the remaining cheques, whether they get cleared or bounce and later come with the statement of the banks. The police have advised the people to execute the transactions so that they are enabled to go ahead with proper investigation.
The people have now decided to meet the Nuvem MLA Mickky Pacheco to take his help and they will also begin drafting of the complaints on Friday.
The President of the Seafarers Association, Dixon Vaz, has extended full support to the cheated people.
Dixon has also been in touch with the NRI Affairs Commissioner at Goa and the NRI minister and has made a proposition to them to help the people in getting, at least, their principle amounts back.
