PONDA: The three-member committee of administrators headed by chairman Durgesh Shirodkar took over charge of Goa Dairy from outgoing Administrator Arvind Khutkar on Monday.
Durgesh is also the chairman of Sateri Dudh Vyavsayik Saunstha Santimol, Raia. The other members of the committee who also took charge are Yashwanth Kamath, chartered accountant, from Campal-Panjim and Avip Naik, Assistant Registrar of Co-operative Societies (HQ).
It may be recalled that Registrar of Co-operative Societies Vikas Gaunekar had substituted the existing one-man committee of Administrator of Goa State Co-operative Milk Producers’ Union Limited of Goa Dairy headed by Arvind Khutkar, Additional Collector Ponda.
After taking charge, Durgesh said as farmer and chairman of the committee of administrators he is committed to Goa’s Dairy development and to protect the interests of farmers.
“All the necessary steps will be taken after studying financial position of Goa Dairy with support and cooperation of my committee members,” he said and assured to cooperate to all inquires pending against some dairy officials.
Durgesh said he was part of agitation by farmers’ who were demanding inquiry and suspension of the former MD.
He said all efforts will be made to bring back those farmers, who have switched to Sumul and assured to solve their problems.
