QUEPEM: Amidst rising COVID cases and deaths in the State, Deputy Chief Minister Chandrakant (Babu) Kavlekar on his birthday inaugurated the 50-bedded COVID Care Centre at the Quepem Government College auditorium, with oxygen facility.
The COVID Care Centre, which is likely to be upgraded as a step-up centre, has been thrown open for the patients from Quepem Taluka. On Friday, the Deputy Chief Minister dedicated his birthday for the service of COVID patients and frontline workers.
Speaking to the media persons, the Deputy Chief Minister said, “I am taking keen interest in this facility because I have experienced the sufferings of the people because of sudden shortage of facilities due to rapid increase in COVID cases.”
“Our team has made arrangements for the oxygen and other kits required to make the cylinders working. It is not easy to get the required material in the State as the cases are increasing across the State. Most of the suppliers being from the other States, which are under lockdown already, find it difficult to source the required material,” he said.
“It is not easy for anyone to manage things, when people don’t follow COVID guidelines and restrict themselves, which causes spike in positive cases,” he added.
Deputy Collector Quepem Nilesh Dhaigodkar, Additional Collector Deepak Desai, Mamlatdar Laxmikant Dessai, BDO Jeetendra Bugde have also worked hard to setup the centre in no time.
