MAPUSA: Dy Collector Bardez Kapil Phadte along with Talathi for Mapusa Reshmi Kitturkar visited the Tar Ganesh Visarjan Site and inspected the ground situation of the Tar river. Phadte informed that he received complaints from Local of fish dying near Tar Ganesh Visarjan Site.
Residents of surrounding areas and members of Mapusa youth were also present.
During the visit, Dy Collector Kapil Phadte inspected the site and found dead fish at the immersion site. It was also learnt that the water had turned black as well as stinking. Local residents who were also present informed that from last several years they have been writing to local authorities to clean the river. However none of the authorities have bothered to take action.
After the inspection, Dy Collector directed Talathi Reshmi Kitturkar to make a list of residential structures, houses, shops and other along the Tar river from Mapusa Market till Highway as well as list of shops located close to the Nallah that flows behind the Mapusa Market since the Nallah flowing behind the Market is connected to the tar river.
Phadte informed that notices will be issued to the violators.
“I have received complaints from the locals acting on that complaint I have made preliminary visit to the spot. Joint meeting will be called with concern department including MMC, Health, WRD and others. I have also directed Talathi to take note of all the people who allegedly release in water. The condition of the Tar river looks shabby and unhealthy”, Dy Collector Bardez Kapil Phadte said.
