PERNEM: Deputy Collector Bardez on Friday sought a report from the Bardez Mamlatdar within 24 hours, over an alleged Anjuna wedding party, video of which went viral on social media.
In a memorandum issued to the Mamlatdar Bardez, Deputy Collector Bardez stated that it was observed that a video and message have gone viral on social media that one hotel at Anjuna had hosted a dinner party of around 300 people, on Thursday night.
Further, the Deputy Collector said in this regard, when Anjuna Police Station Police Inspector Suraj Gawas was contacted he informed that the Mamlatdar had inspected the site for alleged violation. Therefore, submit detail report and enumerate the violations if any observed during the visit within 24 hours.
Videos of a dinner function with large number of guests in a starred hotel at Anjuna apparently violating COVID-19 safety protocols had gone viral on social media on Thursday late evening.
Meanwhile, Abhinav Kapoor, resident director of the starred hotel said, “No party was held on Thursday night but it was just the dinner of the guests which are presently staying in the hotel. There were 38 people, who have come to attend the wedding, which is scheduled on June 26. Permissions for the same are already obtained. Also no COVID protocols were violated. The guests were using face mask as well as maintaining social distancing.”
