SANGUEM:  Given the increasing number of instances of youth, especially couples visiting the beautification project site at Madel ward of Uguem  panchayat, the Sanguem Deputy Collector Ajay Gaude along with other officials visited the beautification spot to stop the entry of visitors to the spot.

Gaude directed the WRD officials and the Forest Department to depute guards at the main entrance gate to stop the youth from visiting the site.

The Deputy Collector instructed the police officials to visit the spot at regular intervals and inform him about any person violating the orders despite the ban on entry to the spot.

Gaude informed that the ban will continue till further orders. It may be recalled that Gaude had directed the WRD officials to lock the main gate last month in view of the COVID pandemic and that a large number of people particularly youth were allegedly using the place for nefarious activities.

During his visit to the site, Gaude found a large number of empty liquor bottles and other material.

Incidentally, the beautification project was undertaken by the WRD in 2014 and was almost ready.

However, the department allegedly neglected the final completion stage of the project after having spending several lakhs of rupees on it. The project if completed would have been a major tourist attraction in the village.
