PANJIM: Three months after the State Legislative Assembly passed The Goa Regularisation of Unauthorized Construction Act, 2016, the State government on Saturday issued the notification appointing Dy Collectors and Sub-Divisional Officers as the nodal officers in their jurisdiction for the purpose.
Officials say over 30,000 to 40,000 unauthorised houses in Goa, will be regularised as a “one-time measure of relief” with one-time fee/penalty for the house owners. However, the common man will feel the pinch if he/she wants to get the illegal structure regularised.
According to the notification, the owners will have to pay all conversion fees, infrastructure tax, occupancy fees plus the construction licence fee, besides a penalty. The penalty would be five percent for residential and institutional, 15 percent for commercial and 10 percent for residential cum commercial.
To regularise an illegal house of 100 sq metres, one may end up paying taxes of approximately Rs 1 lakh. The notification says owners must get their structures regularised within 180 days of the notification.
The notification has divided areas into four categories for payment of regularisation fee: coastal and developed area (Category A and Category B), municipal area, developing villages and rural villages.
