BICHIOLIM: The Mayem MLA and the Deputy Speaker, Anant Shet, recently reviewed the work of the Tillari Irrigation canal and some of the other works in the constituency.
Shet told Herald that he had a meeting with the PWD-(buildings) officials and discussed the works that could be taken up in the villages. He also had a meeting regarding Tillari Irrigation canal for supplying water to his constituency.
“Discussion on several topics was held and we have instructed the PWD to build proper infrastructure, including shed or steps near the rivers to ease the hardships of villagers,” Shet told.
The work on the Tillari canal that passes through most of the villages of Mayem constituency is likely to be completed in next one year.
“Several villages including Pilgao, Karapur, Van-Maulinguem, Chodan, Mayem and others would come under the ambit of the Tillari canal and it would be a boon for the farmers. We have discussed with the officials regarding the supply of water to the villages where farming is carried out and have also asked them to properly monitor the progress,” Shet said.
