CANACONA: Local MLA and Deputy Speaker Isidore Fernandes’ wife tested positive for COVID-19 after undergoing a test at a private hospital on the outskirts of Panjim on Thursday.
She is asymptomatic and has opted for home isolation whereas the MLA and his other family members will undergo COVID test on Friday.
The deputy speaker confirmed that his wife who underwent a COVID test at a private hospital on the outskirts of Panjim has tested positive for COVID-19 on Thursday.
“As she is asymptomatic she has opted for home isolation,” he added. “My son, daughter-in-law, grandchild and myself will visit the same hospital tomorrow for tests,” he said.
The MLA said his wife has no symptoms and is confident that she would recover soon. Fernandes also appealed to his constituents to exercise precaution.
“I will be available to my people over the phone. I appeal to you to call me and I will respond to all your issues,” Fernandes said.
Meanwhile, Canacona CHC reported 17 new cases on Thursday taking the total number of confirmed cases to 219 in the taluka.
