E-services for land conversion launch today

PANJIM: After successful implementation of the single window system for property partition, the office of North Goa District Collector has extended e-services for land conversion with its launch scheduled on Friday.

The single window delivery mechanism will ensure that citizens visit only one office and that the process will be completed within three months of application.
District Collector Nila Mohanan said the service is totally integrated involving the Collectorate, Town and Country Planning (TCP), Office of the Deputy Conservator of Forests and Department of Survey Settlement and Land Records (DSLR).
“An applicant need not come to the office or call up to inquire about his/her application status. Every status will be sent to the concerned applicant through an SMS. The e-route will cut the processing time by half,” she told Herald.
Under the existing system, the completion of the process – divided into 12-15 steps – takes not less than eight-to-12 months, which will be reduced to three months under the e-route system. Mohanan said the process will comprise not more than seven stages.
In addition, a joint inspection by officials of the four departments will be held on a single day to avoid an applicant’s repeated availability for site inspection. The Collector stated the date and time for the joint inspection will be fixed well in advance and intimated to the applicant by SMS.
The existing process has officials of the four departments inspecting the site on different dates that necessitates the presence of the applicant at every inspection.
“The new system will provide time bound delivery of the service. The issue of sanad won’t exceed three months,” she said.
, adding online monitoring of the process, fixing a time frame for every step of the process and SMS updates to applicants at every stage will ensure transparency in the processing of applications.
