MARGAO: Keeping in mind the e-waste menace, the Rotary Club of Margao on Monday commenced a special drive of collecting year end e-waste from door to door in the jurisdiction of Margao Municipal Council.
Damodar Shirodkar, chairperson of Margao civic body has also appealed to the residents to hand over their e-waste in order to get rid of such type of waste from the town.
“It is a good initiative from the Rotary Club of Margao towards disposing of the e-waste that has added burden to the rising issue of garbage. My request to all the residents of Margao to handover the e-waste so that it is sent for re-cycling,” he appealed.
As informed by Deep Karapurkar, president Rotary Club of Margao this drive will continue till December 17.
“E-waste is defined as anything that has a wire, plug, or battery that you are probably not going to use it again. These include cellphones, chargers, laptops, TVs, cameras, printers, modems, etc. Rotary Club of Margao offers a great opportunity to residents of Margao to get rid of all their e-waste and start the New Year 2023 on a fresh note,” Karapurkar stated.
Those wishing to dispose of their e-waste may send a WhatsApp message to RCM at 7774016575 with their address and RCM volunteers will collect the e-waste and dispose of it in the right way.
