EC holds street play to enlighten voters on polls

CURCHOREM: In a bid to create awareness among the voters, the Election Commission organised a street play at KTC bus stand, Curchorem.
The street play was directed by Hemant Ayya and presented by 18 students of Government College Quepem to inform the public how to cast vote and the voting right of the citizens.
Quepem Joint Mamlatdar Laximikant Kuttikar, Assistant Principal of Quepem College Ashok Mangubutkar, NSS in-charge Dr Kulkarni and other election officials were present on the occasion.
The students also appealed the voters not to fall prey for the money and muscle power, but to choose the right candidate and cast vote as per the conscience.
“Use your fundamental right to choose a right party without falling prey to monetary gains,” said Agnelo Fernandes, Assistant Returning Officer for South Goa.
He further appealed the people and urged them to elect good candidate who will work to strengthen the country.
Later speaking to Herald, Fernandes, who is also Curchorem-Cacora Municipal Council Chief Officer, said the voters’ awareness programme was organised under the guidance of Election Commission of India to inform the voters that casting vote is a sacred duty which is a fundamental right of every citizen.
