PANJIM: Election Commission’s local officials have sought a reply from the Home department over permission granted by it to organise the Sunburn festival at Candolim when code of conduct was in session.
Social activist Aires Rodrigues had filed complaint with the EC alleging kickbacks of Rs 100 crore in permitting Sunburn festival on December 26. The model code of conduct was in force from December 24.
Sources in the EC said that home department has been asked to reply on the issue. “We will proceed with the matter only after getting response from home department,” a senior official informed.
Sunburn festival was held between December 27-29, at Candolim. Rodrigues had alleged that huge kickbacks were involved in giving clearance for the festival despite code of conduct being in force.
