PANJIM: A team of Election Commission of India (ECI), New Delhi, likely to be headed by Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Sushil Chandra, will visit Goa from December 2 to 4 to review poll preparedness ahead of Assembly elections scheduled in February next year.
Though the details of the programme were not available, the EC team will meet and discuss poll preparedness with the Chief Secretary, Director General of Police (DGP), both the District Collectors besides Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Kunal and other officials of the State Election Office. The team will also meet the representatives of all political parties.
The Election Commission of India has started the process of visiting the poll-bound States as part of preparations for the scheduled elections.
The ECI a few days back held a conference with the Chief Electoral Officers (CEO) of all States and Union Territories and reviewed various thematic issues related to electoral roll, polling stations, ongoing special summary revision, IT applications m EVMs/VVPATs, training and capacity building of polling staff, media and communication, extensive voter outreach programme and provision of better facilities at the polling booths for all voters.
The elections in Goa, Punjab, Manipur, Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh and due in February next year.
