PANJIM: The much awaited Incubation Center at EDC will be launched in the second week of July. In addition, “Digital Nomad” for the roaming people interested in IT and internet connectivity will also be launched at Morjim soon. Both these initiatives were announced by Sidharth Kuncalienker, chairman of EDC and chief guest IT Minister Rohan Khaunte, respectively, while addressing the 110th Annual General Meeting of the Goa Chambers of Commerce and Industry (GCCI).
Even though there were talks about the ongoing interesting football World Cup match, the business at GCCI AGM continued. Opening the session the President of the GCCI, Sandip Bhandare said Goa should put more emphasis on building infrastructure, logistics, information technology etc to make its economy more robust.
Special speaker R Gopalkrishnan who has over 50 years of management experience and has been the executive director of Tata Sons was candid in saying that initiatives like Make in India, Start Up India etc must be given some time to arrive at their success. “In a mere two to three years in a big and diverse country like India it will be unfair to judge the effectiveness of these projects. Statistics can be interpreted but the actual results will speak the most,” Gopalkirshnan said.
Gopalkrishnan also advised IT Minister Khaunte to take the State to a different level by launching low cost “4.0” version by bringing in IT, biotechnology and bottom of the pyramid together development which none of the Indian States have undertaken and very few foreign nations like Germany, Russia and China are working on it. He was speaking on the topic of new manufacturing opportunities as given to him by the GCCI.
The function was attended by noted industrialists of the State including GCCI’s past president Narayan Bandekar, Vice President Manoj Caculo, Kirit Maganlal, Commissioner of GST in Goa Anbalgan to congratulate a industry body which has been going steady since its launch in 1908.
