PANJIM: M/s Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL), New Delhi has been awarded the work of replacing all bulbs, tubelights and fans of households in Assolda village in Curchorem constituency to energy efficient LED bulbs and ceiling fans.
The State Designated Agency (SDA) of Electricity Department has awarded the work to the EESL, a joint venture of PSUs under the Ministry of Power, Government of India.
The EESL will replace all existing inefficient equipment such as tubelights, bulbs and ceiling fans by star rated energy efficient 9W bulbs, 20W tubelights and 32W BLDC ceiling fans to promote efficient use of energy and its conservation.
The SDA is implementing Model Energy Efficient Village Campaign, a programme funded by the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), Government of India in the Assolda panchayat area.
The SDA has requested all consumers of Assolda panchayat area to cooperate with the implementing agency to make the village energy efficient. Nearly 600 houses from Assolda village will be converted to energy efficient LED bulbs and fans.
Power Minister Nilesh Cabral had earlier said Assolda has been chosen as a pilot project under the Centrally sponsored scheme.
The LED bulbs last long, cost effective and it saves up to 60 per cent of power. Under the scheme, the Government of India has sanctioned Rs 1.37 crore to implement the scheme.
Cabral said that the survey of all households has already been completed and the work of replacing bulbs and fans will be tendered and start from next month.
Meanwhile, Power Minister Nilesh Cabral will launch a mobile van creating awareness on energy conservation across the State at a programme to be held at the at the Institute Menezes Braganza conference hall, Panjim at 3 pm on Tuesday, December 21.
The programme organised by the SDA of Electricity Department will be followed by distribution of prizes to winners of various competitions conducted by the SDA.
The Energy Conservation Week celebrations organised by the SDA of Electricity Department under the Bureau of Energy Efficiency, New Delhi will conclude on Tuesday.
