Efforts are on to deliberately stop water supply to Bicholim: MLA

Demands a through probe into the matter; Calls for through checks while releasing water to Sal

BICHOLIM: Bicholim MLA Rajesh Patnekar convened a special meeting with the PWD officials at the Assonora water treatment plant in a bid to resolve the issue of drinking water supply to some parts in Bicholim, especially Sal.
Principal Chief Engineer  Uttam Parsekar , Chief Engineer Gurudas Naik; Superintendent Engineer  Ulhas Kerkar,  E Baretto, V N Rao Chavan  and 25 other officials were present.
Patnekar said efforts are on to deliberately stop water supply to Bicholim especially Sal and surrounding areas during Ganesh Chaturthi and accused the department of diverting more water to Porvorim and Bardez taluka.
He demanded a through inquiry into the matter and added that it was necessary to conduct through checks while releasing water to Sal.
Sal Sarpanch Meghshyam Raut informed that the locals did not received water supply on the
day of Ganesh Chaturthi. 
Principal Chief Engineer  Parsekar instructed the officials to undertake repairs without halting water supply to Sal and other areas.  
He informed that three water pumps at Assonora water treatment plant have broken down and have been sent for repairs on account of which the supply to the above areas was affected.
