MARGAO: Tuesday’s meeting of the SGPDA will determine the outcome of the ongoing agitation by the market vendors for a place of worship in the market, as the religious structure issue is now in the PDA court for an amicable solution.
Acting District Collector, Venancio Furtado said he has sent the minutes of the meeting to the PDA to take a call on the request of the vendors for a place of worship in the market for all three communities. “The administration is trying to work out an amicable solution to the imbroglio. Efforts are on to work out a solution with the PDA on the sensitive issue”, Furtado told Herald.
Sources said that the Acting Collector had a telephonic discussion with SGPDA Chairman Rajan Naik on the issue. The market vendors are also expected to call on the PDA chairman and other members before Tuesday’s meeting. Incidentally, the Acting District Collector maintained at the meeting that the demolition operation was ordered upon a request received from the SGPDA. PDA Chairman Rajan Naik said he has already spoken to the Acting District Collector and sounded optimistic of evolving a solution to the impasse to the satisfaction of all parties.
