PANJIM, JAN 23 Civic-minded citizens have come together to clean Goa with a campaign "Chakachak Goa". Lead by a former councillor of Panjm Patricia Pinto they have planned to take up cleanliness drives in various parts of the State this year by engaging students.

Civic-minded citizens have come together to clean Goa with a campaign “Chakachak Goa”. Lead by a former councillor of Panjm Patricia Pinto they have planned to take up cleanliness drives in various parts of the State this year by engaging students.
Addressing a press conference on Saturday here Patricia Pinto told that a garbage collection drive will be held throughout the year in different parts of the State with a big participation from youth.
They have sought cooperation from Bhaskar Naik, Director of Higher Secondary Education, Dr Santosh Patkar, NSS Project Co-ordinator and Anil Powar, deputy director of Education Department.
The campaign will be kicked off from January 26, she said wherein, besides initiating garbage collection drive, they intend to spread message among the masses to keep Goa clean.
The first cleanliness drive will take off from Malpe railway station and conclude at Government Arts, Commerce and Science College in Pernem. Around 2500 NSS students are expected to participate in this drive, he said.
