Efforts to make Vasco Carnival people-friendly

VASCO: The Vasco Carnival Committee on Thursday unveiled its four-day Carnival programme starting from Saturday.

VASCO: The Vasco Carnival Committee on Thursday unveiled its four-day Carnival programme starting from Saturday.
Addressing a news conference, Vasco MLA Carlos Almeida said the committee has decided to organise various programmes at different locations in the city to make the Carnival more people-oriented.
“This is perhaps for the first time the Carnival committee has decided to be more people oriented so that everyone can enjoy the event. I urge the citizens of Mormugao taluka to attend all the events in large numbers and make Vasco Carnival a grand success,” urged Almeida.
Vasco Carnival committee Chairperson Lavina D’Souza highlighted various events and locations where it would take place. “On Saturday, in front of the municipal building, a drawing contest for children will be organised at 1 pm. Carlos Almeida will inaugurate the programme at 5.30 pm,” informed D’Souza.
On Saturday children group singing and dancing, fancy dress for adults and performance by DID fame celebrity Jeet Das and dance performance by Rimi Dhar and the dance troupe.
On March 2, a canoe race at Khariwada at 10 am, fishing competition at Vaddem lake at 11 am, Khel tiatr at New Vaddem, Bhute-Bhat, MPT Colony and near Baina Church, performance by DJ Kim at 6 pm, Evergreen band at 7 pm and Kantaramchim Sanz by Mario at 8 pm in front of the municipal buidling.
On March 3, float parade will be flagged off from St Andrew’s Church Square at 3.30 pm, followed by performance by African dancers and Sonia Sirsat at 8 pm near the rickshaw stand, while on March 4, tie breaker at 3.30 pm, sand sculpting (5 pm), Heavens Touch (6 pm), Kollective Soul (7 pm), O’Luv Rodrigues live Harish Mad Celebrity singer and fire works by Agnelo SFX at Baina beach.
