Efforts to save SP Deshpande continue

PANJIM: In a bid to keep Police Training School (PTS) principal SP A V Deshpande’s slate clean, his batch mate SP Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) Bosco George, has sent the file on the inquiry against Deshpande, along with the DIG’s report, to the Vigilance director to be forwarded to the Chief Vigilance Officer for a decision.
Vigilance director Amarsen Rane confirmed receiving the file. “ACB is of the opinion that since the DIG has already conducted an inquiry, there cannot be another inquiry in the same matter. Hence it is submitted that the file should be sent to Chief Vigilance Officer,” Rane said.
Importantly, Rane said he has not yet decided his future course of action, as he has not read the DIG’s report. “I have not yet decided whether to send this file to Chief Vigilance Officer or back to ACB,” he told Herald.
Rane refused to comment when asked whether the officer inquiring in the matter has recommended that investigation be handed over to some other officer.
“Right now the file is with me. I will be taking a decision soon, it is not appropriate to make any comment,” Rane said.
George’s strategic move to cover up for his police colleague had already been exposed by Herald in its earlier edition.
Deshpande is facing serious charges for gross violations in allotting electrical works and making other purchases at PTS, following a series of reports in Herald exposing his misdeeds at PTS.
