PANJIM: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant will felicitate eight teachers, recipients of the CM-Vashistha Guru Puraskar 2022-23 for their exemplary work done in the field of education at a function to be held at the Durbar Hall of Raj Bhavan, Dona Paula at 11 am on Tuesday, September 5, on the occasion of Teachers Day.
The recipients are Harshita Naik, government primary teacher of Government Primary School, Parsem-Pernem; Soniya Mangaonkar, government primary teacher of Government Primary School, A V Lourenco, Margao; Premanand Naik, Physical education teacher of Keshav Sena Sadhana’s Narayan Zantye School for Special Education, Sarvan-Bicholim; Antonet De Sousa, assistant teacher of Our Lady of The Rosary High School, Dona Paula; Umesha D Sawal alias Umeshi D Dessai, assistant teacher of Government High School, Fatorpa; Dr Nita Salunke, headmistress of L D Samant Memorial High school, Porvorim; Suchitra Dessai, headmistress of Popular High School, Margao.
In the higher secondary teacher category, the recipient is Datta Parab, grade-I teacher of Shree Shantadurga Higher Secondary School, Pirna-Bardez.
Harshita Naik has been conducting remedial classes for weaker students and always puts the extra efforts to increase the enrolment and to teach the students by taking extra classes.
She always strives hard to make all round development of the student and encourages them to take part in competitions. She was felicitated by the Pedne Prathamik Path Saunstha five times for her outstanding performance.
Soniya Mangaonkar’s reputation with the students and in the community is very good. She is conducting various education programmes for students and is also resource person at various in service training programme for teachers.
Premanand Naik is taking lot of efforts for training the student in different sports and various activities. He has taken special training Olympics for Special Children. He also provided training to students to participate in Special Olympics at Athens-Greece, South Korea, Los Angeles, Abu Dhabi and Berlin-Germany and the participating students won many medals at both – national and international level during sports meet.
Antonet De Sousa’s performance and credentials both academically and in the society in very good. She earnestly and diligently works to promote the local language and the Goan culture through her drama, plays and songs. She has been motivating children to participate in Konkani signing competitions and writing poems in Konkani, etc.
Umesha Sawal follows different methods in teachings and has an excellent rapport with her students. Her main goal is to use low cost teaching aids. She is always been dedicated to help the community to grow and thrive from planning patriotic events for the school to organising and setting and leading all community help based events.
Dr Nita Salunke joined Prabhodan Education Society’s Vidya Prabhodini High School Porvorim as a Science Teacher. She has started Science Club and mentored around 300 students for science projects. In 2010, she was promoted as Headmistress. Worked as a Resource Person for teachers on online mode organised by the Directorate of Education during Covid-19 pandemic. Worked under different capacity for SSC Board examination.
Suchitra Dessai joined the Popular High School, Margao in 1998 as an assistant teacher andpromoted to headmistress from November 12, 2020. During her teaching career, she devoted and dedicated herself for the growth and developmentof institution and students as a whole. Her academic efficiently is extraordinary which has proved 100 per cent result of the school for seven consecutive years.
Datta Parab has made innovative changes in the method of teachings such as group discussion, PPT presentation, field visits and resolving the problems of the students by visiting their homes. Besides academic performance, he has involved the students in various co-curricular activities. He has worked as a resource person for SCERT for guiding SSC scholars and as a master trainer for teachers on online mode organised by the Directorateof Education during Covid-19 pandemic.
