Eight tourists saved from drowning

PERNEM: The Drishti Lifesavers rescued eight tourists when the boat they were in capsized after being hit by a wave, at Keri Beach.

According to the information received, the incident occurred at around 12.50 pm on Wednesday when a water sports boat carrying a group of eight tourists toppled with the impact of an oncoming wave. The boat capsized, throwing all the occupants into the water which further created panic amongst the tourists and started calling for help. 

The lifesavers on duty Vikram Talkar and Dhaku Talkar who were observing the coastline, immediately relayed a rescue call and both rushed to the spot along with the rescue equipment. 

The victims were secured with the help of board and rescue tube.  Vikram and Dhaku made several trips into the water back and forth and ensured that the victims were brought back to the ashore. 

Two out of eight tourists sustained minor injuries hence primary first aid was administered.
