MARGAO: Elaborate security arrangements have been made to ensure that the elections are conducted fairly and peacefully in South Goa with the Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) showing its area domination with flag march on Saturday evening.
The CAPF with its armed personnel carrying the very intimidating rapid firing gun conducted flag marches and will make its presence in the constituency till the voting machines are safely transferred to the strong room at the Government College at Multipurpose in Borda.
Of the 810 polling booths in South Goa only five have been identified as vulnerable only because of the very strong presence of migrants in those areas like Zuarinagar in Sancoale and Monte Dongor in Margao where the CAPF will be constantly marching to show their strength and intimidate the suspected trouble makers.
Besides Quick Reaction Teams have been constituted that will move around in the constituency at different places while a cluster of around 10 polling booths will be monitored by a separate team headed by a Sector officer who will be accompanied by a Sector Magistrate.
The strong room will be provided a two tier security by the CAPF and also the local police force or the India Reserve Police battalion.
