Elderly Man Killed After Being Hit by Train on Madgaon–Chandor Railway Line

An 80-year-old man was killed after being struck by a train on the Madgaon–Chandor railway line, police officials said on Wednesday.

The deceased has been identified as Joaquim Estibeiro. According to preliminary information, the incident occurred when the elderly man was on the railway track, where he was hit by a passing train, resulting in fatal injuries.

The body has been shifted to the South Goa District Hospital (SDGH) for medico-legal formalities. Vasco Railway Police have registered a case in connection with the incident and are conducting further inquiries to ascertain the exact circumstances leading to the death.

In the wake of the incident, railway police have urged the public, particularly elderly citizens, to avoid walking along or crossing railway tracks and to use designated crossings and foot overbridges to prevent such tragic accidents.
