CANACONA: Revellers from Canacona joined in celebrating the traditional ‘Sao Joao’ traditional festival in the State on Monday.
Despite the absence of rains, Sao Joao revelry was at its best, as revellers made the most use of water bodies in the day-long celebrations to mark the feast of St John the Baptist.
While some youngsters joined by a few senior citizens made arrangement for festivities by the rivers, others took part by dancing and singing to the loud music mounted on decorated pick-ups moving in and around the taluka.
Some foreign nationals were also seen sporting the ‘Sao Joao Kopel’ (crown) over their heads either joining some local groups or roaming around on two-wheelers.
Youngsters at Agonda, Sadolxem, Galgibaga, Ordhofond, Maxem, Pedem, Chaudi, Sheller and Ponsulem assembled in groups to revel in Sao Joao festivities, informed sources.
