NAVELIM: Cuncolim Constituency Citizens Committee (CCCC) on Friday has urged Cuncolim voters to consciously cast their votes wisely judging the political acumen and performance of the representatives and not be misguided by the ‘false politicians’.
CCCC comprising Cuncolim residents such as Oscar Martins, Tony Rebello, Francis Rodrigues, Seldon Rodrigues, Irineu Coutinho, Piedade Fernandes, Glemser Goes and others urged Cuncolim voters to elect wisely. “If the real power in democracy lies in the hands of the people, then people must vote consciously as educated voters and not be allowed to be misguided by politicians. Development is a measurable quantity and as such Cuncolim voters have been asked to do a performance analysis of the candidates. They need to elect genuine characters with good values and background, those without a blemish, with a sincere and devoted outlook,” said the CCCC members.
The members reiterated the perennial problem with level of pollutants emanated from the fish meal industries that have had an adverse effect on the health of the people. They further claimed that these industries could afford to be reluctant about people’s health over their profit because these industries have had the backing of some unscrupulous politicians, who when in power had the sole objective of amassing wealth, which they did it brazenly even roping in their next of kin.
“One has to have one’s own roots in that area and above all identify as someone who has the love for genuine development be it social, economic or political. What we have observed is personal development leading to family growth and it is this tendency that needs to be curbed. Hence, the voters need to be wise,” said the CCCC members.
