Large number of elected representatives from several villages of various talukas gathered in large numbers to oppose the classification of villages into Eco sensitive zones. While the committee did not accept any memorandum regarding the same the Sanguem MLA Subhash Phal Dessai joined the villagers in demanding the same.
Minister Subhash Phal Desai met the Chief Minister expressing his opposition to the Eco Sensitive zoning of various villages in Sanguem and other areas. He has said that there is a question of livelihoods. He also defended the IIT in Rivona.
ESA Central Committee held a meeting in Kholai village. 99 villages have been identified in the Western Ghats. The elected representatives of all the affected villages attended the meeting and submitted memorandum and opposed classification of villages into Eco Sensitive Area.
