VASCO: The dispute within the Goa Barge Owners Association (GBOA) has now escalated in to a court battle with a case against the present committee challenging the election of GBOA president and praying for election directives in the matter.
The case has been filed by Osric Cabral, a barge owner, challenging the election of Raymond De Sa as chairman of GBOA and prayed for election directives.
The case of Cabral is that since the term of the executive committee, empowered to elect the president, has expired, De Sa’s election as the president of GBOA is invalid.
Reacting to the filing of case, Raymond De Sa said that the civil courts have no jurisdiction to entertain a case against the election of GBOA president and that any dispute on the same would have to go for Arbitration.
