PANJIM: Directorate of Vigilance suspended Electricity Department assistant executive engineer M B Shirwadkar, against whom disciplinary proceedings are also being contemplated.
According to sources, Shirwadkar was allegedly involved in granting illegal connection to a hotel based in South Goa and in return had accepted some money.
The suspension is in exercise of the powers conferred by sub-rule (1) of Rule 10 of the Central Civil Services (Classification, Control and Appeal) Rules, 1965, states the order.
It has been further ordered that during the period that the order shall remain in force, the headquarters of Shirwadkar shall be the office of the Chief Electrical Engineer, Electricity Department, Vidyut Bhavan, Panjim and he shall not leave the headquarters without obtaining permission of the competent authority.
