MARGAO: Opposed to acting upon written or verbal complaints it receives, the State Electricity Department responded to a complaint it received via Twitter and resolved the issue on the same day itself.
On Saturday morning, Professor Sanjay Dessai tagged the State Electricity Department in his tweet where he attached a picture of the electrical connections and streetlight near the old railway gate at Margao, which he said needed cleaning. The same was covered with creepers and bushes.

While this tweet was sent in the morning, later that evening, the department replied to Dessai with a picture of the cleaned up area.
“Our Assistant Engineer (AE) Margao and his team took immediate action and cleared the creepers and bushes,” the Electricity Department’s tweet.
Dessai thanked the department for their prompt action and hailed the power of social media.
