Panaji: The Electricity Department has appealed to consumers to abide by the rules and regulations governing the installation of power generating units and warned to initiate legal action against those violating the law, as it issued an advisory in view of the rising electrocution cases recently in Goa
The advisory issued by the department on Saturday focused on concerns regarding unauthorised installations of power generating units, citing a recent case of electrocution to the personnel working Departmental Lines/Infrastructure. Consumers are called upon to refer to the
aregulations nos. 4.15 to 4.19 of the Supply Code 2018 which was notified on February 21, 2019.
“All consumers of the Electricity Department who have installed such generating units to their installations without the permission of the Department should immediately take measures to disconnect such devices and reconnect the same only after installation of isolating devices capable of mandatorily isolating Departmental mains (including neutral) as mandated by the Regulations and after submitting the necessary technical and operational details through a State authorized licensed Electrical Contractor, failing which any consumer causing damage to the Department apparatus/ human life will be fully responsible for such losses as indicated,” it said.
Electricity Department has further stated that, Consumers who have not informed the Department/obtained permission for installation of Power Generating Devices in their Installation should immediately disconnect the same and isolate it from their internal wiring connected to Department’s system.
The department has also warned of initiating civil and criminal prosecution in case of generating devices are connected to consumer installation unauthorizedly. The consumers will also be liable
