CANACONA: Electricity Department yet again came in for special praise for swiftly restoring the power supply at Xeller, after an electricity pole was damaged by a car.
A police complaint was lodged against the owner/driver of the car (MH-12-HZ-0277) for allegedly damaging the pole across the NH17 road.
“All expenses will be recovered from the accused car owner/driver,” stated Canacona Assistant Executive Engineer, Santosh Lolayekar. The pole was broken Sunday evening, disrupting power supply in the area. The power dept staff salvaged the pole with a ladder as a support and later restored the supply.
“Our top priority was to restore power supply to the locality and as the incident took place late Sunday evening, we restored it, after temporarily protecting the pole from falling,” said Lolayekar  justifying the use of ladder as support to the pole.
Interestingly, the electricity staff worked since Monday morning and replaced the broken pole with a new one and restored the service.
