Overnight heavy showers and strong winds left electricity poles and conductors damaged at Panzorcone-Cuncolim last night.
The power conductors were snapped after uprooted trees came crashing down on the lines last night, leaving the area without power supply.
Around two electricity poles and the overhead wires were damaged in the incident.
Power personnel were at work at the site along the NH-17 to restore power supply to the area.
Incidentally, sources in the power department stated that that uprooted trees damaging power lines is not something new in the area and blamed the authorities for trimming the tree branches before the onset of monsoon.
“This has literally become a annual affair now, causing loss and destruction of property. This could have been averted had the concerned department moved in trimmed the leaning trees”, he added.
