MAPUSA: Chinese electronics goods worth Rs 16 lakh were gutted in fire at Mapusa on Saturday.
Mapusa fire service personnel said that they received a call at 2.30 pm informing them that fire broke out in shop no 16, namely, Sai Enterprises located on basement of multi-storey Essar building in Morod, Mapusa. A fire fighting team immediately rushed at the spot and put out the fire after a two-hour fight, using two fire tenders.
Sources informed that the shop was being used for storing electronic accessories. The cause of fire is suspected to be a short circuit.
Shop owners Vijendra Vohat and Mohommad Ali said that they suffered a loss of Rs 15 lakh.
