VASCO: Several manholes in the sewerage system of Vasco are mostly on the main roads of the town. The recent work of replacing of sewerage line has left these manholes elevated from the ground level which the local assume can turn to be a death trap for the commuters during night time in rainy season.
A local Anil regrets that his scooter has dashed against these manholes several times and even once he was just escaped from falling on the road.
Another local Shilpa Harmalkar said,“The concerned authorities should immediately level these manholes before someone meets with an accident because of this unclean work. The internal road from Baina Kamat Garage till Destero over bridge has developed potholes.
When contacted, PWD engineer Pandurang Naik, assures rough patches will be attended by his department before monsoon.
When questioned about the dangerous manholes, he replied that the main road comes under the ambit of another engineer therefore he cannot comment on it. But Naik added that some days ago the replacing of sewerage line work was ongoing.
