MARGAO: The Aam Aadmi Party on Friday selected its State Convener Elvis Gomes as the South Goa candidate for the Lok Sabha parliamentary elections.
The announcement was made by the South Goa District AAP Convener Rodney Almeida in a press conference on Friday evening.
According to Almeida, the decision was unanimous. He said that though there were other nominees, after much deliberations the district committee was unanimous in choosing Gomes.
The name of Gomes will go before the State level committee to comply with formalities where it will be officially declared along with that of the North Goa candidate. It was informed that the north district committee could not come to a consensus and will again meet later next week to finalise the candidate.
When asked how will they fund the campaign, the leaders informed that they will collect money from generous volunteers and donors.
