Emulate ideals of Shivaji: Ravi

Home Minister Ravi Naik has said that ideals of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj should be inculcated among youth and children since Shivaji had the capacity and leadership qualities to take alongwith him people from all sections and faith in the society.
Ravi was speaking at the state level Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti organized by Department of Information and Publicity at Farmagudi today.
Speaking further Ravi said the thoughts and ideal of Shivaji Maharaj should be emulated by people and also leaders to take the country to new heights of progress and prosperity and opined that great leaders like Shivaji, Mahatma Gandhi and Freedom Fighters have immensely contributed to liberate the country from foreign rule.
Transport Minister Sudin said that we should retrospect and review the immense contribution of the Shivaji Maharaj for the country, religion and culture and further added that leaders have the opportunity to learn from the able statesmanship and his administrative ability towards welfare of common people.
Ex-Chief Minister Smt Shashikala Kakodkar expressed her willingness to take up repair of Mardangad in Ponda which has historic importance with the help of people and said this historical monument needs urgent attention and it should be preserved for the posterity. She also stressed on the need to take up maintenance of Farmagudi Fort.
Suhas Joshi from Pune explained efforts made by Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Sambhaji Maharaj and later on Maratha’s for the liberation of Goa from Portuguese rule and explained in detail how Kondana Fort was taken over by Tanaji Malusare which was under Mughal rule.
Sharad Lotlikar, Vishal Pai Kakode, Director of Sports Dr Suzan D’Souza, Chandrakant Kenkre, President Freedom Fighters Association, Damu Naik, Principal of Engineering College Farmagudi, Prof Gupta, Smt Manisha Naik, Chairperson of Social Welfare Board were amongst those present.
Director of Information Shri Menino Peres welcomed the guests, Girish Velguekar compered the function and Ratnakar Dessai, Assistant Information Officer proposed vote of thanks.
Earlier the dignitaries garlanded the statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.
