A mechanical engineer from Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, drowned after accidentally falling in the sea at Mormugao Port Trust (MPT), on Thursday afternoon.
According to reports, Rajesh Agarwal (57), a mechanical engineer employed for a German-based company, had arrived in the State from Germany on May 8 to undertake some repairs on an iron-ore cargo ship anchored at the Mooring-Dolphin at MPT.
While getting into the launch after finishing work at the anchored ship, Agarwal accidentally fell into sea.
He was later pulled out from the sea and was rushed to port hospital, before being shifted to a private hospital at Chicalim, where he breathed his last.
Mormugao police has registered a case of unnatural death and is investigating the case.
