Police were carrying out the crime site panchanama till late evening even as reports made rounds that that some heavy good vehicle hit the engineer and fled from the site.
Velip was reportedly married a couple of years ago.
Engineer killed in accident
CANACONA: A 37-year-old engineer with the Irrigation department was killed instantaneously, in a hit-and-run accident at Nagarcem, Canacona, late on Saturday night. Ketan Tolu Velip, 37, an engineer at the Sanguem office of the Irrigation department was returning home at Vaizawaddi, Shristal, on his motorcycle when he was allegedly hit by an unknown vehicle at about 9.15 pm. His body was discovered lying on the road.
