Engineers can play vital role in environment protection, says Dy Conservator Forest

PANJIM: Engineers contribute to a great extent in nation development and can play vital role in environmental protection, said Deputy Conservator of Forest Anish Kalkoor.

Kalkoor said, “India being a business hub has to face different challenges and increasing population creates scarcity of resources, as an engineer, one can create various sustainable way and protect environment.”

Kalkoor was speaking as the chief guest for the installation ceremony of Civil Engineering Students Association (CESA) of Don Bosco College of Engineering, Fatorda. 

Director of Don Bosco College of Engineering Fr Kinley D’Cruz, Principal Dr Neena Panandikar, Civil Engineering Department head Dr Shwetha Prassana and faculty advisors Prof Satyesh Kakodkar and Prof B R Anirudha were present.

Kalkoor said, “Civil engineers have more social connect and hence can help society to come with ideas with minimum use of natural resources thereby causing minimum environmental impact. Engineering and technology is necessary for socio-economic development.”

Dr Panandikar guided the students to explore new aspects of technology and blend them with civil engineering.

Dr Prassana briefed about the various activities conducted by the department.

During the online webinar organised in association with the Goa Heritage Action Group, former water resources chief engineer Sandeep Nadkarni spoke on traditional water bodies of Goa.
