MARGAO: Superintendent of Police for South Goa, Sunita Sawant, has announced robust security measures for the upcoming Zambaulim Gulalutsav on April 2, with the deployment of three platoons of IRB and approximately 600 policemen to ensure traffic regulation and maintain order.
SP Sawant outlined the deployment plan, revealing that among the three IRB platoons, one will be exclusively female, strategically positioned at key locations. Additionally, traffic police personnel will be on hand to manage traffic flow efficiently.
Anticipating a surge in visitors, a dedicated police outpost has been established at Zambaulim to address any concerns promptly.
“We have established a police outpost at Zambaulim to oversee arrangements and address visitor grievances,” SP Sawant affirmed. “Personnel from various police stations including Quepem, Margao, Curchorem, and Cuncolim will be deployed to handle any issues.”
Traffic arrangements, managed by the Traffic Cell, will include designated parking areas and strategic deployment of officers to regulate traffic flow effectively.
In response to community feedback, particularly from elderly citizens like Mangaldas Raiker, SP Sawant assured that consideration would be given to their needs. Raiker urged traffic police not to close vehicle entry to the temple premises too early, citing difficulties faced by senior citizens who are forced to walk long distances in the heat.
“We understand the concerns of senior citizens and will strive to accommodate their needs on humanitarian grounds,” SP Sawant affirmed.
