Enrollment of North-East people in Goa electoral rolls, a major threat: Min

Minister claims over 800 registered illegally

PANJIM: Revenue Minister and Porvorim MLA Rohan Khaunte on Saturday filed a complaint before the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) alleging illegal enrollment of around 820 people from the North Eastern State and also some who are not Indians in the electoral roll.
Khaunte, along with locals met CEO Kunal with the complaint seeking immediate investigation and sought stringent action. A formal complaint before Porvorim police station will be also lodged.
Speaking to media persons, Khaunte said, “This is a conspiracy going on. This is a major threat and needs to be seriously investigated.”
He said names of people from States like Manipur, Mizoram and some who are not Indians, but are working on casinos, have been included in the electoral roll of Porvorim constituency illegally. He said that the names have been added without any deletion in their respective States.
The Minister charged that a casino owner is behind the illegal enrollment of his employees in the voters’ list. Khaunte further said that the entire enrollment process, which has been done online, is through a single computer system. “We have submitted the IP address to CEO for investigation. Form 6 under several names has been filled through this IP address,” he said.
