MARGAO: Benaulim MLA Caitu Silva has urged Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar and Deputy Chief Minister Francis D’Souza to ensure that the construction license issued to Rahejas would be revoked. He held a meeting with them on Thursday to discuss the Rahejas issue.
Silva stated that the Majorda panchayat had earlier revoked a construction license and that it could be done on those lines in Carmona. He added, “The chief minister has reportedly sent the letter to the chief secretary, while the panchayat minister has also given his remark.”
Silva also claimed that site hadn’t been properly inspected before the construction license was given to Rahejas. He stated, “The demarcation of the land has caused a land owner’s property to get blocked, and he has complained about the same. There is also a cross and public well in the property, while some more aspects of the land are being overlooked. A fair inspection will reveal the actual position of the property, and the panchayat has to move accordingly.”
“They (three ministers) are aware of the problem. I have told them that Rahejas has not voted for me; it is the people who have voted for me. They have assured to look into the matter,” said Caitu, adding that he had already met the panchayat minister and submitted letters to all of them.
He stated that the panchayat had the power to stop the construction license in interest of the people, and the panchayat minister had shared this view.
Meanwhile, the Carmona village committee has filed a complaint against the chief town planner and town planner.
