PANJIM: After a gap of nearly a month-and-half, the entire Panjim municipal market will reopen to the public from Thursday.
Parts of the city market were shut since March 22 in view of COVID-19 pandemic.
The Corporation of the City of Panaji (CCP) has decided to reopen the entire market from 8 am to 6 pm only.
City Mayor Uday Madkaikar said the entire market area has been cleaned and sanitised to ensure complete hygiene at the site.
“No tobacco or smokeless tobacco product sale will be allowed in the market,” he said adding that proper demarcation of space for vendors has been done.
The Mayor urged the people as well as the vendors to ensure all the guidelines are taken care of including mandatory wearing of masks and maintaining social distancing during the purchase.
He said the police and CCP inspectors will be at the site to man the area and ensure all norms are followed.
